As a curator she enjoys initiating projects, developing themes and finding venues to exhibit. She likes to support local social issues such as diversity, inclusion and heritage. This work involves applications for funding for the artists, education workshops, and a private view.

Regeneration and Public Art is a passion of Julia’s. She sees it as a gateway to increase public interest in their local community, heritage and future. It increases knowledge and understanding of the potential role public art can have in the environment, and the power that public art that it can have within a society, when done well.

School workshops are a fun way to ignite interest in the school curriculum. It introduces an alternative approach to learning, developing creative skills and problem solving. Art and design workshops can be applied to other parts of the curriculum too. Julia has many skills in art and design to offer institutions in this way.

Being a mentor is an important role; it gives the support that a mentee requires, whether it is academic advice, skills based, or administrative. Julia’s students gain a clear understanding of the importance of the curriculum within the context of a school or college. They learn how to plan, organise and manage a project, session plans, and achieve results. They will develop teaching methodologies for different groups of pupils and students. They will know how to record progress, assess and evaluate their delivery and the outcome. They will gain confidence and experience in delivering a creative program in a classroom. Julia will give them the support they require.

International projects with multilateral partners are a great way to expand our knowledge and skills between European states and beyond. Julia is experienced working on such projects in the EU and overseas. The students who have been involved in such programs have gained invaluable enrichment in knowledge, skills and cultural development. Staff exchanges have helped to develop new teaching methodologies and ways in interpreting the curriculum.
